Temporary Sanctuary

Warmer weather, and sometimes colder weather depending on how brave you are, brings about the need to be outdoors and connect with nature. This time outside also allows us to connect as we learn more about ourselves and our environment as we disconnect from our screens and step outside.

What will we take? Did you pack the chargers? Why do we need the chargers? These questions and so many more arise ahead of any trip. With camping, do we need more or less? This will depend on what type of experience you want to have. A bare minimum will allow for more time wandering around the forest while bringing the kitchen sink will mean that you have everything you need and then some.

What if you could have the best of both worlds? Experience nature. Gather, reset and connect. In comfort, but also feeling like you are stepping out of your comfort zone. Everyone has their level of comfort that they enjoy when they are out camping. Some take it to another level and do it in luxury, also known as glamping. Glamorous camping. The term was coined in 2005, though the idea of camping in luxury has been around for many decades and evident in many different cultures around the globe.

As someone who needs to be comfortable, I look at what will make my life easier when going camping. Comfort, accessibility and organisation. So what does this look like practically? For me, it is a comfortable bed and comfortable chairs where I can relax and reset. It is a table where I can connect with others while I prepare food or play a game of cards. It is a storage bench where I can gather my belongings together for easy access and stay organised and not frantically look for my other hiking boot. A couple of folding camp stools to take down to the firepit and enjoy the sunset as it signals the end of the day.

With a blank canvas in front of you, how do you create your temporary sanctuary when you camp or glamp? Whatever it is, make sure it works for you. After all, you are the one who has to pack it up at the end of the trip...
